Wreckfest is another that focuses hard on true damage models.
Never played Beam but it looks like a good start to work from. I would have assumed it was limitations over tech as well, seeing as with how many racing games come each year, none seem to make an effort to do it right, and often times dodge the question when asked. Honestly, the actual racing in GTA Online is my favorite even over true sim racers.
Though to be fair, the bigger issue was always ai and how you could use other cars as your own brakes, and cars wouldn't conform to where you was on the track.īack on topic however, the closest thing to realistic damage models I've played, is GTA, and it's not so great online. As great as Grant Turismo is/was and the time I spent playing it over the years, I had a hard time argreeing it was the 'true driving simulator' when there was basically no damage system.
